Relics of St. Pio of Pietrelcina at Holy Spirit

Holy Spirit is pleased to host the relics of St. Pio of Pietrelcina (affectionately known as "Padre Pio") as part of a special tour offered through the Saint Pio Foundation. The relics' tour is a celebration of 130 years since his birth and 15 years since his canonization.


Tuesday, October 3, 2017 | 9:00 a.m. - 6:50 p.m.

Mass in Honor of St. Pio | 7:00 p.m.


Information for Pilgrims

  • Upon arrival at Holy Spirit, Pilgrims will gather in McDonough Hall (the parish hall) to learn about the life of St. Pio before walking to the Church to venerate his relics.
  • Due to anticipated crowds, Pilgrims will only have 15-20 seconds to venerate the relics and should select which relics they would like to venerate.
  • Religious items will be available for sale as supplies last. Cash, checks and credit cards will be accepted for payment at HSCC.
  • Veneration ends at 6:50 p.m. There will NOT be veneration during or after the Mass in honor of St. Pio which begins at 7:00 p.m.
  • A free-will offering to support the works of the St. Pio Foundation will be collected.



About the Relics

What are relics and why do we venerate them?


Reliquaries containing the following items will be available for veneration:

  • cotton gauze with blood stains
  • crusts of the wounds of the stigmata
  • glove which covered his stigmata
  • a handkerchief
  • a lock of hair
  • St. Pio's mantle

Important Notice About Parking

Due to anticipated crowds, we have arranged for overflow parking at  Northwest Presbyterian Church, 4300 Northside Drive AND at Chastain Horsepark, 4371 Powers Ferry Rd., NW.  A parking shuttle will run continuously from 9:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m. between Holy Spirit and Northwest Presbyterian Church / Chastain Horsepark. Please be patient as we accommodate all of the faithful who will travel to Holy Spirit to venerate the relics of a truly holy man.
