What is RCIC?
RCIC stands for the Rite of Christian Initiation for Children. The program is offered for children in 3rd - 9th Grade who have not received the Sacraments of Baptism, First Reconciliation and/or First Communion. This program educates the children about the origins and importance of the Sacraments they are to receive, as well as how to receive them.
First Reconciliation is held on a Saturday in January. First Communion is held in May on Saturday of Mother’s Day weekend.
In 2024, First Reconciliation will be on January 27th at 10:00 AM. First Communion is on May 11th at 11:00 AM.

What is the RCIC Process?
- Be a registered Holy Spirit parishioner (Register online); if you are registered at another parish, submit a Pastoral Consent Letter from your parish.
- Submit Baptismal Certificate if not baptized at Holy Spirit. If your child is not baptized please contact the Religious Education Office.
- Register your child for RCIC AND Religious Education.
- Attend RCIC classes on one Wednesday evening a month AND Religious Education on Sundays. A minimum of 80% attendance required.
- Attend a Social & Service Event: 10/3/23 at 4 - 6 p.m. or 2/24/24 at 9 - 11 a.m.
- Attend the Family Reconciliation Retreat (1/6/2024) and the Family Eucharist Retreat (4/6/2024).
