Celebrate the Feast of St. Blaise - Receive the Blessing of Throats
Tuesday, February 3, marks the Feast of St. Blaise, a bishop martyred in Armenia in the year 316. According to tradition, while being led to his execution, St. Blaise was approached by a mother whose young son was choking on a fish bone. At the bishop’s command, the child was healed. Because of this miracle, St. Blaise is honored as the patron saint of sore throats. In keeping with this tradition, all are invited to receive the Blessing of Throats following the 8:30 AM and 6:00 PM Masses in St. Mary’s Chapel, in union with Catholics around the world.
