Formation & Planning
Core Team members are invited to participate in formation and planning opportunities throughout the year. These gatherings help build community, deepen our faith, and prepare us to effectively accompany our Confirmation candidates.
Please make note of the following required dates:
Kick-Off Dinner – Meet the Team

Core Team Day of Formation
- Saturday, September 26 | 9:00 AM–2:00 PM
- Location: Malta Hall
Core Team Planning Sessions
- Sunday, October 18 | 11:30 AM–1:00 PM
- Sunday, November 8 | 11:30 AM–1:00 PM
- Sunday, December 13 | 11:30 AM–1:00 PM
- Sunday, January 10 | 11:30 AM–1:00 PM
- Location: McDonough Hall, Side B
Attendance at these gatherings is an important part of your commitment as a Core Team member. They provide opportunities for spiritual formation, team building, prayer, and preparation so that we can serve our teens with excellence and unity.
Ministry Presence
Core Team members commit to:
- Arriving by 6:00 PM each Tuesday to pray together as a team and prepare to welcome teens.
- Providing a joyful, welcoming, and Christ-centered environment for all participants.
- Being fully present and engaged throughout Confirmation gatherings.
- Helping with cleanup and participating in the team debrief from 8:30–8:45 PM.
Confirmation Schedule & Attendance
Core Team members are asked to make Confirmation Prep a priority and commit to attending weekly Confirmation sessions whenever possible.
Confirmation Session Dates (6:30–8:30 PM):
- Tuesday, January 19
- Tuesday, January 26
- Tuesday, February 2
- Tuesday, February 9
- Tuesday, February 16
- Tuesday, March 2
In addition to weekly sessions, Core Team members are asked to attend one 1/2 day Confirmation Retreat, choosing either:
- Saturday, February 27, 1:00 pm - 6:00 pm, Location: HSCC
- Sunday, February 28, 1:30 pm - 6:30 pm, Location: HSCC
Confirmation Rehearsal and Confirmation Mass – Date TBD
Attendance at all sessions, one retreat, and the Confirmation Rehearsal and Confirmation Mass is strongly encouraged as part of the commitment to accompanying our candidates throughout their Confirmation journey.
Core Team members should plan to attend the entire retreat and assist with facilitating activities, small groups, prayer experiences, and hospitality throughout the day.
If a scheduling conflict arises, Core Team members should communicate with ministry staff as early as possible.
Relationship Building & Mentorship
Core Team members are expected to:
- Meet teens right where they are in their faith journey.
- Build authentic relationships and serve as mentors.
- Create an atmosphere of trust, respect, and belonging.
- Encourage teens in their growth as disciples of Jesus Christ.
- Accompany teens with patience, compassion, and authenticity throughout the Confirmation process.
Program Leadership
Core Team members help facilitate the Confirmation experience by:
- Participating in and facilitating activities, games, and large-group experiences.
- Co-leading small group discussions based on the evening’s theme alongside another core team volunteer.
- Leading small group prayer and fostering meaningful spiritual conversations.
- Encouraging active participation and engagement among teens.
Preparation & Communication
Core Team members are responsible for:
- Preparing for Confirmation sessions by reading and responding to ministry emails and communications.
- Staying informed about upcoming events, schedules, and ministry needs.
- Communicating promptly with ministry staff regarding attendance or scheduling conflicts.
Additional Opportunities for Ministry
Core Team members maintain an openness to serving beyond weekly gatherings, including opportunities such as:
- Sharing personal testimonies or giving messages.
- Assisting with retreats, conferences, mission trips, and special events.
- Attending youth sporting events, performances, and other activities to support teens.
- Meeting with teens for coffee, pizza, or other relationship-building opportunities when appropriate.
- Supporting other ministry initiatives as needs arise.
Safe Environment Requirements
In accordance with the Archdiocese of Atlanta's Office of Safe Environment, all adults who work or volunteer with minors must complete the required Safe Environment requirements prior to serving with the Confirmation Core Team.
These requirements include:
- Completing a criminal background screening.
- Completing VIRTUS: Protecting God's Children Safe Environment Training.
