Confirmation Preparation
at Holy Spirit Catholic Church
At Holy Spirit, Confirmation preparation is a two-year journey for students in Grades 9–11, following the guidelines set by the Archdiocese of Atlanta. To participate, students must be enrolled each year in either a Catholic school* or in Phoenix (Holy Spirit’s youth ministry program).
- Year 1 begins when your teen first signs up for Confirmation preparation at Holy Spirit.
- Year 2 takes place the following school year and leads up to receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation in the spring.
* In the past, teens were required to participate in the parish Youth Ministry program for two full years prior to receiving Confirmation. While this is still the preferred path, attendance at a Catholic high school is sufficient for fulfilling the "two years of faith formation" component of the Confirmation requirements. There are additional items required for all candidates, regardless of the school attended, for immediate preparation for the sacrament. Please see the "Eligibility Requirements for Year 2 students" for more information.
After receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation, we strongly encourage teens to stay connected and grow in their faith by continuing to attend Phoenix youth nights.
