The Great Books Discussion Group will read Confessions of a Fallen Standard Bearer. Andrei Makine (1957-) was born in Siberia and grew up in the city of Penza. He received his doctorate from Moscow University. In 1987, Makine was granted political asylum in France, later becoming the first writer to receive three prestigious literary awards and is often compared to Chekhov and Proust. Confessions of a Fallen Standard Bearer provides glimpses into Russia during WW II and the Cold War. Join us on Thursday, May 13th, via Zoom. Contact Patrick Carey at 770-241-2511 for details.

Ministry Description
The goal of this lively discussion group is to engage the intellect and imagination through shared inquiry about provocative literature. The Great Books Foundation in Chicago compiles the selections. Challenge and broaden your thinking as the group probes deeply into characters and ideas. Members are required to read the selections prior to the meetings and come prepared to answer interpretive questions. The Great Books Discussion Group meets from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. on the second Thursday of each month between September and May.
