About The YPs

The various committees of the Young Professionals help to plan a wide range of activities intended to enrich the faith of the single and married young adults of the parish.

If you have suggestions for activities, or you’d like to volunteer, contact us at one of the addresses below. Better yet, come see us at one of our events.

Steering Committee:
The Steering Committee oversees the group, ensuring that all activities reflect our overall Mission. This committee is also responsible for group communication, and often takes the lead in many of the special projects the Young Professionals engage in. We are always open to new ideas and suggestions, so please don't hesitate to contact us!

New Member Committee:
Young adults new to Holy Spirit, and those who have not previously attended a YP event, are invited to a wine and cheese tasting in McDonough hall on the first Sunday of each month immediately following the 5:30 Mass.

Email for more information.

Service Committee:
The Service Committee plans at least one service event every other month as an opportunity to come out and meet other Young Professionals for a great time while we give to the community. Previously, we have worked with The Atlanta Community Foodbank, St. Francis Table, MUST Ministries and the John Ripley Forbes Big Tree Forest Preserve. We have also coordinated with other committees to plan dinner events in support of Project Open Hand. Look for our upcoming events posted here, in the YP Weekly Newsletter and Church bulletin. We hope to see you at our next event.

Past events include: a trip to The Monastery of the Holy Spirit in Conyers, Atlanta Braves games at Turner Field, Screen on the Green in Piedmont Park, Martinis & IMAX at Fernbank, a visit to Atlanta History Center and Friday Jazz at the High Museum.

Special Projects:
The Special Projects committee works on various key items throughout the year, including our annual Mardi Gras party, Solidarity School benefit events, the Haunted Halloween Trail, and various collections to benefit those in need (e.g. supplies for Solidarity School summer program).

Spiritual Committee:
YP Scripture Study gathers young adults to pray and explore the Bible. The group has studied the Acts of the Apostles, 1 & 2 Thessalonians, Colossians, Ephesians, and Philippians. After a summer break, the group will begin a study of 1 & 2 Corinthians using Little Rock Scripture Study materials beginning Tuesday, August 7, 2007. The Scripture Study will run for 18 weeks, ending on December 4th. The YP Scripture Study group meets Tuesday evenings from 6:45 p.m. until 8:15 p.m.

YAM/Archdiocese Relations:
The Young Professionals work regularly with YAM, Catholic Charities, and other Archdiocesan groups to bring together the Common Word throughout all our activities. This work includes hosting YAM TGIFF and Holy Grounds events, supporting the Eucharistic Congress and Revive events, and attending Catholic Charities sponsored events.
