Religious Education

Registration for the 2011-2012 school year is now open to all children ages 3 through 12th grade.

NEW FAMILES TO RELIGIOUS EDUCATION:

You have two options for registration this year. Please read the following options carefully:
  • Download and print registration packet. Please read the form carefully and return it, along with your payment, to the Parish Office – Attention: Religious Education, by May 1, 2011
  • Pick up a packet at the parish office at your earliest convenience, between the hours of 8:45 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.

This year there will be two sessions of Sunday morning classes, for ages 3 through 8th grade. You must indicate on the registration form which time you prefer.
  • 9:45 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
  • 11:15 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.

Youth Ministry (grades 9 through 12) will continue to meet on Sunday evenings, from 6:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. The 9th grade year of Youth Ministry fulfills the requirements for year one of the Confirmation program.

Preparation for the sacraments of Communion and Penance take place during second grade. Preparation for Confirmation takes place during ninth and tenth grade. Families registering for any of these three sacraments MUST include with their registration form a copy of the baptismal certificate and an envelope addressed to the church of baptism (if different from Holy Spirit).

Cost for the year’s program will be $85, with a family maximum of $200. After May 1, 2011 the cost per child is $100.00. If you volunteer and serve as a teacher or assistant in our Religious Education program for the school year, the tuition cost will be waived. Please remember that you are not guaranteed your first choice but every effort will be made to accommodate your preference.

Your registration form should be mailed or dropped off at the Parish Office – Attention: Religious Education. Please do not fax your forms. Upon receipt of your completed form, it will be date-stamped. All classes will be filled on a first-come, first-placed basis – with no exceptions. Families will not be separated, so your entire family may be placed in your second choice.

Along with the registration forms you will find a volunteer form. Please look over the list and commit to something within our program – perhaps you would like to teach or assist in a classroom. Teachers and assistants are needed in all grades.! We are also looking for volunteers to help in non-teaching roles – Vacation Bible School, Teacher Appreciation, Grade Level Social planning, creative help, and receptions. Please write on the back of the form if you are interested in any of these areas. Whatever help is offered will certainly be put to use!

Finally, please remember that attending Religious Education classes does not substitute for your child’s need to attend Mass. The way that you as a family approach our Faith teaches your child more than he or she will ever learn in weekly classes.
