60th Anniversary Events - Save the Date!

Please save the date of Sunday, May 19th, for the kick off of our year-long 60th anniversary celebration. We will have a special bilingual Mass at 11:30 a.m. on Pentecost Sunday, our patronal feast day, followed by a picnic. And on Wednesday, May 15th, we will have a prelude to our anniversary kick off with a Easter Evening of Prayer and Worship performed by our Traditional Choir. The concert will be held at 7:00 p.m. in the Church. Details about these and other events commemorating our parish’s diamond jubilee are forthcoming.

Safe Haven Sunday

Next weekend, April 20th and 21st, we will celebrate Safe Haven Sunday as an Archdiocese. This awareness day offers us a chance to reflect on the harmfulness of pornography in marriages, families and our culture as a whole, while providing helpful resources to both individuals and families. STRIVE and Restored Vows are both available online and free of charge. We know that the use of pornography in the home deprives its role as a safe haven and has negative effects on families across generations. It is my hope that the resources available to you on Safe Haven Sunday will both encourage and teach all individuals and families dealing with the effects of pornography that loving support is available. We also have complimentary resource books available in the Narthex. We encourage all families to take advantage of these resources. (*NB:  the information in the bulletin is not accurate as the links have since been updated).

Faith in Action

Gold Award Project to Benefit Refugee Families

Parishioner Lauren Wilhelm, a sophomore at Holy Spirit Prep, is in the process of earning her Gold Award. Lauren is working with Catholic Charities Atlanta to collect much needed laundry necessities and provide education about the issues facing refugees when they arrive in Atlanta. Lauren aims to assemble 50 laundry basket kits (each containing laundry detergent, fabric softener, stain remover spray, dryer sheets, and a laundry basket) which will be distributed to refugee families upon arrival. Donations of supplies will be collected in the Narthex between April 10th and April 30th. You may either can the QR code to access the Amazon wish list or shop on your own. Thank you, in advance, for your support.

St. Vincent de Paul Society Update

Between January and March this year, volunteers of the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul at Holy Spirit helped over 100 neighbors in 39 different households in our parish. We were there when they asked for help with rent, utilities, groceries and other bills. Some of these requests are for one-off needs, but in some cases, we walk many months with our neighbors to get them back on their feet. We can do this because of the generous donations of time and treasure from the parishioners at Holy Spirit. Thank you!

But with more help, we could do so much more! There are many families who just need a helping hand with that one bill. Please consider volunteering your time and / or making a donation For the Poor using the link on the homepage of the parish website. If you are interested in joining our ministry or learning more about what we do, please contact Jenn Molner.

2024 Archbishop's Annual Appeal

We are very grateful to all our parishioners who have already joined together in pledging their gift to the 2024 Archbishop’s Annual Appeal. The campaign goal is $9,350,000 and our parish goal is $283,900. A percentage of the money collected above our goal will be returned to the parish. If you have not yet made a gift to the 2024 Archbishop’s Annual Appeal, you may use the pledge cards in the pews this weekend or you can easily donate online. Please be sure to designate Holy Spirit Atlanta as your parish. Every gift to the Annual Appeal is vitally important to assure the continued support of many important programs that help thousands in our archdiocese each year through the education of our children and seminary students, evangelization and Christian Initiation, on-going formation for our priests and so much more. Thank you, in advance, for your participation in this year’s Appeal.
