CRHP - Frequently Asked Questions

"What happens on a CRHP weekend?"
This is an opportunity to slow down, to reconnect with God, and to evaluate your direction in life, and to choose a spiritual path that strengthens your inner peace in all aspects of life. We will enjoy each other's fellowship, explore how the Gospel impacts our lives, and pray for grace.

During the weekend you will listen to a number of individuals who have volunteered to give a personal witness to the power of Jesus Christ in their lives. Group discussions and responses follow each presentation. There will be readings of scripture, time for prayer, and time set aside for personal reflection.

Sacraments are an integral part of the weekend. There will be an opportunity to go to confession and the weekend will conclude with a private Mass. All experiences shared on the weekend are confidential unless otherwise expressed by the participants.

No matter where you are spiritually, you will be touched by this incredible retreat.
"Who conducts this retreat"
The retreat is conducted by Holy Spirit Parishioners. A Spiritual Director and Lay Director and the entire CRHP renewal team who attended the previous CRHP retreat have been in formation in order to provide this experience for you.
"How long is the weekend?"
The weekend begins at 8:00 am Saturday and concludes by 4:30 pm on Sunday.
"Who may attend?"
Any Parishioner, 21 years or older.

All are welcome! Christ Renews His Parish is for anyone seeking spiritual renewal. Many attend because they feel something is missing from their lives. All participants will be welcomed and receive unconditional acceptance.
"Will I have to get up and talk?"
Other than brief introductions you will not have to get up and talk in front of others. The weekend is structured around talks given by previous CRHP participants. Group discussions and activities take place after each talk. Weekend participants are usually broken up into tables of 5-6 people. Most in-depth discussions take place amongst your own table. You are free to share as much or as little as makes you comfortable.
"What if I am new to Holy Spirit or the Catholic Faith?"
Perfect. You will grow together in this community of CRHP brothers and sisters. This may be the beginning of long-lasting friendships.
"What is and is not part of the CRHP weekend?"
This is a weekend of reflection and sharing of spiritual and real life issues. This is not a silent retreat, yet there is time to reflect and pray.

This is not a solitary retreat, and your participation makes the retreat a spiritual one for you and the other participants. Your participation is a key to the retreat.
"How do I sign up?"
A maximum of 36 participants are allowed to attend each retreat. Click here to complete a registration form to reserve your spot.
"Where will I sleep?"
Sleeping accommodations will be in McDonough Hall. Air beds will be provided. You will be asked to bring your pillow, blankets, or a sleeping bag. Bring pajamas, toiletries, medicine, a washcloth, and a hand towel.
"What about meals?"
Meals and snacks are provided by the CRHP women's and men's renewal teams. There will be warm fellowship, great conversations, and delicious food! You will not have to cook a meal - you will be pampered and refreshed! If you have a special diet, please let us know when you register so we will be able to provide for your needs.
"What should I wear?"
Casual and comfortable clothing for both Saturday and Sunday. A jacket, sweater or sweatshirt are also helpful. Please leave your watches and cell phones at home. An emergency contact number will be provided.
"How much does it cost?"
A $35 registration fee is requested but not required. The spirit of CRHP is to make the experience available for everyone.
"What about church on Sunday?"
You will be worshiping with your CRHP family and not at the regularly scheduled church services.
"Is the Renewal Weekend all there is?"
The uniqueness of CRHP is in its continuation. Your spiritual growth is ongoing, and if you choose, you can continue with weekly fellowship and Bible study with your new CRHP brothers or sisters, Lay Director and Spiritual Director from your special weekend. Together you will share your faith, reflect on scripture, and hold each other up in prayer. You may also choose to go into formation to be on the next team who delivers this wonderful experience to other Holy Spirit Parishioners. During this formation time, even greater spiritual growth occurs
